- Make a list of 20 things you like about yourself. Push away any thoughts that you are being big-headed or arrogant, because this is the first step to changing the way you see yourself.
- Say positive things about yourself aloud to others. Build up the courage – it is OK to make good comments about yourself.
- Listen to the positive. The next time a person compliments you, let it soak in.
- Re-examine your relationships with others and make changes that will help you break bad patterns and develop the ‘new you’.
- Take a long look at your relationship and avoid those that seem to drag you down and lower your self-esteem. One of the most positive things about starting over as a single person is the rich and honest conversations you have with supportive friends and family.
